The holidays are over and it’s time for a fresh start. Although I have not made any resolutions this year I am going to try to blog more and keep my book fans informed about the adventures of Jerry Giraffe, Benny Bear, Geronimo the Talking Horse and my new character, Trixie.
I want children to experience fun and imagination through my books. The characters meet new friends and go to exciting places. Reading is still fundamental to all learning and will add to the success of each child’s education. As a retired teacher I know the importance of reading at an early age. The more a child is read to and reads for himself, the more he will learn. In books a child can travel to far off places, meet new people, learn about animal habitats and even get an idea of what to expect at their first dentist and doctor appointments.
I am always seeking new ideas for my characters and welcome suggestions from readers. Feel free to email me at any time. If I use your idea in one of my books you will receive a complementary copy of the book and be listed on the acknowledgement page.
Good reading, see you in the next adventure,
Cyndi and friends
Today was exciting. I skipped my weight watchers meeting and slept in until after nine. My creative writing class with Jeanette Bakto was very informative. We had several small assignments that helped us to define our characters. Writing children’s books just come naturally to me but the mystery novel really needs polishing. I need to say, “Her smile lit up the room like Fourth of July Fireworks” instead of “She grinned.” After the writing class I went to the public library and spoke with the librarian in charge of the summer children’s program. I showed her a few of my books and she is going to let me come in the summer and read to the children. I am so excited.
Silly Milly and I have had a busy week. On Saturday we helped at Guiding Light Community Church with the rummage sale, on Sunday we saw a fantastic concert given by the Weaver Believers, on Monday we watched the church get its new lettering and had a good Class on being a fan not a follower, Tuesday and Wednesday we helped pack up leftovers from the rummage sale and we had a good Bible study on the life of Moses. Thursday was filled with meetings and today we are visiting sick people. Tomorrow promises to be a writing day so keep a watch out for our new adventures.
Silly Milly and I went to the park for a game of hide and seek then we went to our garden to pick cupcakes. She picked vanilla swirl with peanut butter frosting and I picked a Red Velvet one with cream cheese frosting and sprinkles. We later ran into Harry Hippo and Piggy Gus at the lake. Since I had my float with me I went for a swim with them while Silly Milly picked flowers. On our way home we stopped at the pet store to pick up some bones for Mr. Bonz. We arrived home just as our little pup was finishing off his last bone so he was extra joyful to see us. Tomorrow we are going to the public library. We love to read. Don’t you? See you!
